Jesus, the good shepherd
The good shepherd
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. John 10:11
It is lent season. Lent starts 40 days before Easter as a time to focus on Jesus and what he did for us when he died on the cross for our sins. That is what makes him the good shepherd. He was willing to give his life for his sheep, us. Shepherds protect their sheep from predators to keep them safe sometimes risking their own lives to protect them from wolves or mountain lions. Shepherds guide their sheep to areas to eat and drink water. Shepherds also make sure to keep track of all the sheep. If one gets lost, the shepherd will go find it. Jesus came to save us all from our sins. He wants everyone to go to heaven, so Jesus came to save the lost, the ones who were not on their way to heaven (Luke 15: 4-7).
