After the resurrection
Kid’s week:
John 16:7 “Nevertheless, I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper (advocate, counselor) will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.”
For Easter, we celebrated what Jesus did for us when he died on the cross. His death took away the price of death we have to pay for our sins. Because of what Jesus did, we can go to God directly and ask Him for forgiveness and know that we have it. The disciples, Jesus closest friends, were sad that he died. They were so happy to see him when he rose from the dead but then he told them that he would go away again this time to heaven to be with God. This probably made them sad to hear this, so he told them it was for the best. Jesus could only be in one place at one time, but God would send the holy spirit that could be everywhere at the same time. This would be better for everyone. The holy spirit can be everywhere because the holy spirit lives inside of us. The holy spirit helps us to the good that God wants us to do. The best way to possibly understand this right now is to consider the holy spirit as God in spirit form living inside of us.
Activity:
Take an ice cube and put it in a pot. Explain this is water in solid form.
Let the ice cube melt. Explain this is water in liquid form.
Once it is melted, put the pot on the stove and turn it on.
Watch the steam. Explain this is water in vapor form.
This is similar to God who also exists in three forms, as the Father, the son and the holy spirit.
The holy spirit is a gift to us from God.
