Kids: spaghetti beam challenge
Week 1: Let’s talk about animals. Did you know that animals travel in groups? It’s true. Fish groups are called schools. No, not like the ones you might ride the bus to in the mornings but in a group all together. We call lions travelling together a pride and wolves travelling together a pack. We call bats in a group a colony and a group of kittens a litter. One reason why animals travel in groups is because it offers protection. It is also because there is strength in numbers. God created us to have a group around us to. He starts us with a family and then He adds friends to our group. These protect us, help us and make us stronger when God sets them up. Let’s practice this with the spaghetti beam challenge. I will hold one spaghetti strain on the ends and see if it can hold a cup of water. What do you think will happen? Then we will place a group of them together and hang a cup of water on them. What do you think will happen? Let’s do it and find out.
We see the one strand could not do it but together the beam held. This is because there is protection and strength in numbers. That is why God wants to have close healthy balanced relationships with others. Know that it is important to stay connected to your family and to have good friends around you. It is the way God wants it. Sometimes we will have a little or a lot but that doesn’t matter. It only matters that they are the ones God wants because those are the ones with the most good to come out of them.
