He is in the darkness
Even as adults, we can find ourselves unnerved by the darkness. Those hidden moments in our past created from decisions made as rebellious teens, immature young adults or uncommitted Christians may attempt to leave us feeling disqualified as mothers. Darkness resulting from the actions of others may have left scars of guilt, shame or bitterness buried in secret places stocking fears over how to protect our littles from the wrongs in the world. For some of us, the darkness comes from places unknown stirring doubts we will be able to provide the quality mothering we desire. The weight of darkness may cause our spirits to cry out for comfort.
As darkness covered the face of the earth, God hovered over the surface. In this verse, God shows He existed then and we can be assured He exists now in our dark spaces.
