Jesus, our mediator

Jesus, our mediator

Jesus serves as a mediator which means that be brings us together with God.  Jesus is the way into heaven.  When Jesus died on the cross, he covered our sins.  Jesus’s death washes us clean and makes it so we can come to God.  He is the reason we can come together with God.  When we come to God, we can present our sins and sees it through the work of Jesus.  God can not exist where sin lives so Jesus makes it possible for us to spend time in the presence of God. That does not mean we do not sin but he does mean that our sins are always covered by Jesus and our ability to come to God always remains intact.

Activity: Let’s do an experiment!

  Mixing oil and water

  1. Grab one cup of water

2. If you would like, you can add some food coloring

3. Notice how the food coloring mixes with the water

  4. Now mix one cup of oil

5. Notice how these mix together

  6. Now add 2 teaspoons of dish soap

  7. See how these work together.

  8. Notice that the water did not mix with the oil until the dish soap was added.

Take away:

Jesus is like the dish soap in this experiment.  Without the soap, the oil and water can never com tighter.  They can occupy the same space but never come together.  When we live in our sin, we are like the oil and God is like the water. We cannot mix with God without Jesus.  Let us thank Jesus for his work so that we can continue to commune with God and enjoy his presence fully.
