Be thankful
Kid’s week
“But the serpent said to the woman, “you will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. So when the woman saw the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her and he ate.” Gen 3:4-6
They ate the fruit! God told them not to do it but they did anyway! They were told what would happen but they did it anyway! WE talked last time about listening to God. The serpent suggested to them that what God said was not true and then she considered it. This was the start towards the sin but this was not the sin. Even if we have questions or are not sure, that does not mean we sinned. We can still turn back at any time and follow the direction God gave us. The next step towards the sin is she saw the fruit she was not suppose to eat and saw it was good. If we are not careful, what we see will become the path to out sin. If we do not keep our focus on God we are more likely to sin. We have learned the importance of learning and knowing God’s word so we can better know His voice and see His plan for us. One way to keep our sights on Him is to practice being thankful for the things He has given us. When we are thankful for the blessings He has given, we do not focus on the things we do not have and then we are not so easily tempted by those things He does not have for us as a way for satan to lead us to sin.
As we go into the thanksgiving season, let’s begin practicing being thankful. Start today by naming 7 things we can be thankful, things that bring you joy, things that you have that you did not have to work for are some good places to start. Then pick a day each week to do the same thing or begin a gratitude journal to write down three things every day that you can be thankful for. Thank God for the many blessings He provides including your toys, the ability to learn new things, love from family and friends are a few to start your list.
Let’s see how many you can have by the end of the week or month or year!
Until next time,
Happy sowing
