Be the example God wants you to be

Devotional:  God made us all able to see Him all the time.  Sometimes He does that through the actions of others like helping people write songs to sing, stories to read or make videos to watch.   God tells us that He lives inside of us.  “Don’t you know that you are God’s sanctuary and that the spirit of God lives in you?” HCSB.  Think of something that made you smile, made you happy or made you less afraid.  That was God telling you He was there.  God can use even you, (insert Child’s name).  When you let the light of God shine through you, others can see Him too.  Matt 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world.”  1 Cor 3:16  

Share a time when they made you smile, a time when you caught them doing something good and let them know that is a time when they let their light shine.  That was God using you to be a light to those around you, to let them know that He was there.  This week look for ways to be helpful or to comfort someone and let your light shine.  This will also be a great time to teach and sing with them the song “This little light of mine”.  Here is a video my kids and I enjoy https://youtu.be/cKkbIZtqhyQ.  Let them know that God lives within them and His light can shine through them to others.  Show them that they can shine their light in the good deeds they do, the good manners and goodness they show to others.

·       As the week goes along, ask your child about the things that made them smile each day. 

Activity: Write kindness letters or make a special sign or coloring page for a widow, nursing home resident, the mailman or garbage man.
